Created in 2005, the Angkor Photo Festival is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Held each year in Siem Reap, the weeklong festival features a series of exhibitions, slideshows and outdoor activities. It serves as a platform to discover and re-discover talent from all over the world, and is now a regular highlight on the Asian arts calendar, attracting photography professionals from all over the world.The unique educational goals of the festival set us apart. Held concurrently with the festival are two free educational workshops the Angkor Photo Workshops for young Asian photographers, and the Anjali Photo Workshops for underprivileged children from Anjali House. An exciting new addition this year was the inaugural Reminders Project Asian Photographers Grant, the first grant specifically targeted to supporting Asian photographers working in Asia.This year's festival featured the work of more than 110 photographers, including 70 Asian photographers. Highlights included a unique exhibition on Asian Street Photography and a special slideshow showcase on photography in China.All our activities are completely non-profit and absolutely free-of-charge for all participants! We are also proud to announce the Angkor Photo Festival has become a member of the international Festivals of the Asia Pacific Photo Forum !

Like the previous editions, the 7th edition of the Angkor Photo Festival doesn't have a themed program, but proposes to discover, or rediscover, artists from all over the world. He was a curator at the 2008 Singapore International Photo Festival, the 2009 Chobi Mela Photo Festival in Bangladesh, the 2010 International Orange Photo Festival in Changsha, China, and most recently the 2011 Ningbo A-la Photo Festival. His professional work on Sichuan Earthquake, and Beijing Olympic report has been widely used in the international media, and has been presented in various University. He is a lecturer for Yang Xiaoguang multimedia workshop in China, and is currently a PhD candidate in Photography at Bolton University in the UK.> Sylvie Grumbach - France For over twenty years, big names in fashion and culture have given their image to the expertise of 2e Bureau, the press agency founded 25 years ago by Sylvie Grumbach. The 104 in Paris, the fashion designer Maurizio Galante, the festival Visa pour lImage and the Collection Lambert in Avignon are among its many clients which it works closely with. Curiosity, imagination, creation are key principles of the agency, which aims to be a second office> Jean-Yves Navel - France Co-founder and director of the festival, Jean-Yves Navel is a graduate of Fine Arts in Lyon, France. After a career in international business in Africa, Argentina and the Caribbean, he moved to Cambodia where he has lived since 1998.

Children's Day [Wednesday, 23 Nov]For the young and the young at heart, the festival organises a special "Children's Day" as part of the program. A fun-filled day for all the children of Anjali House, it features exciting performances and a special edition of slideshows curated just for the kids. A highlight of the day is presenting the photographs produced by the children during the Anjali Photo Workshops. The children are always excited to see their photographs shown at a slideshow, and the public has a chance to share view the stunning images created during the 10-day workshop. BLOWUP Angkor Back again by popular demand, the BlindBoys were staging BLOWUP Angkor for the second year. Bringing photography into the streets and to the people, BLOWUP Angkor is a series of open and free exhibitions displayed on public walls and at various public spaces in Siem Reap. Featuring the work of photographers from around the world, BLOWUP Angkor also showed work from the children of Anjali House. New work have been put up every day at different places.Blindboys (blindboys.org) is an online, community-driven photo commune, using free and open platforms to bring photographers and viewers together. They believe photography is to be shared. All prints from BLOWUP Angkor will be free for the taking after the event, so that people can bring home their favourite photographs.

ANDRI TAMBUNAN / IndonesiaFor his project AGAINST ALL ODDSSlideshow available online at http://youtu.be/I1Y9Slt_--4Selected by our jury panel from submissions received from all over Asia, the winner will have his work showcased as part of the 8th Angkor Photo Festival, which will be held end of November 2012, in Siem Reap, Cambodia.The winner of the grant has been announced during the festival, and received financial support of US$3,000 for his winning project..In the following weeks, we will be showcasing each finalist and his/her project on the Invisible Photographer Asia - the official media partner of the grant.A project supported by Blurb and Bangkok Airways.PROJECT STATEMENTIn recent years, more and more Asian photographers are emerging onto the international scene, producing work of outstanding calibre and giving exposure to little known issues from their region or their own countries. However, one of the biggest obstacles faced by these photographers is the difficulty of finding financial funding to support their projects. In-depth, investigative work requires long periods of research, and without help, many of these projects cannot be realized.The Reminders Project and the Angkor Photo Festival share a common mission in promoting and highlighting the work of emerging Asian photographers. FOUNDING MEMBERS> Roland EngCurrently an advisor to the Cambodian government and Ambassador-at-Large, Roland Engs career in public service began amidst turbulent times in Cambodias history, when he became the Private Secretary to King Norodom Sihanouk in 1979. In 1992, he was appointed Ambassador to the United Nations and was Cambodias First Minister of Tourism, and served as Ambassador to the United States from 2000 to 2005. He now sits on the board of various foundations and NGOs, and is also president of the Angkor Photo Festival.> Jean-Yves NavelCo-founder and director of the festival, Jean-Yves Navel is a graduate of Fine Arts in Lyon, France. After a career in international business in Africa, Argentina and the Caribbean, he moved to Cambodia, where he has lived since 1998.> Gary KnightAn internationally renowned photographer, Gary Knight started his career as a photographer in the 80s. in Southeast Asia and later moved to Yugoslavia. After pioneering the launch of VII Photo Agency in September 2001, he followed the development of events in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan.SINCE 2006> Francoise CallierFrancoise Callier has worked 15 years at 2e Bureau as a photographers agent, working with Helmut Newton, Jean-Paul Goude, Max Vadukul and many others. She handled with Sylvie Grumbach the press promotions at Visa pour lImage in Perpignan, and from 1995 to 1998, she was also the French correspondent for Corbis. Since 2006, she has been the program coordinator of the Angkor Photo Festival.
